I have been working as a consultant in Central Manchester since March 2016. I have extensive experience in hip and knee replacement surgery, revision hip replacement surgery and arthroscopic knee surgery. For my knee replacements, I use the innovative Medacta GMK Sphere knee replacement, which utilises MyKnee technology – surgical instruments which are tailored to each individual patient to offer a more accurate and less traumatic procedure with faster rehabilitation. For my hip replacements I use the Exeter Hip system, which has excellent longevity and remains the standard by which other hip replacements are measured.
I completed my higher surgical training in the West Midlands in 2011 and then undertook fellowships in advanced arthroplasty surgery at the prestigious Exeter Hip Unit and at Toronto Western Hospital. I held consultant appointments in Cornwall and Reading before moving to Manchester. In my current position I am the clinical governance lead for hip fractures and am leading a fracture clinic transformation team.
My MSc in Health Sciences has given me the skills to review and critically appraise published research in order to improve my care of patients, as well as an understanding of how high quality research projects should be designed. I am a keen surgical educator and teach surgical trainees in the North West and medical students from the University of Manchester.
