I specialise in knee surgery in particular arthroscopic sports injuries.
I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at The Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals. I became a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital in May 2002 following the completion of a fellowship in arthroscopic/sports medicine surgery in Perth Western Australia between 2001 and 2002.
I am regularly invited to lecture on knee and sports injury courses both nationally and internationally.
I'm a keen sports enthusiast with a particular interest in rugby, golf and skiing. I represented England in the Under 18s rugby team as a flanker in 1985 and the Lancashire under 18s county tennis championship (doubles) in that same year. Throughout my career I've managed to maintain my interest in sport as a club doctor at Richmond Rugby Club in the late 90s and more recently as knee surgeon for Liverpool Football Club.

Personal profile
I was raised and educated in Liverpool and attended Merchant Taylors School in Crosby before studying at St. Mary's Hospital Medical School where I first qualified as a surgeon. I now live on the Wirral with my wife and two children who keep me very busy.
In my spare time I enjoy most sports mainly as a spectator these days but I do have a particular interest in rugby, golf and skiing.
My other interests include food, wine and real ale. Prior to becoming a father I also enjoyed extensive travel particularly across Africa.
