Dr Adam Hurlow

Consultant in Palliative Medicine

MBChB, MRCP, MA Healthcare Ethics

Specialises in

As a consultant in palliative medicine I work closely with patients with cancer and other medical conditions to manage a range of symptoms and help achieve as good a quality of life as possible.

I ensure treatment is tailored to a patient's individual needs and that it complements any other treatment a patient is receiving. I make sure patients are as actively involved in decision making as they want to be and that I communicate with other professionals involved in a patient's care.

I specialise in the management of a variety of symptoms caused by cancer and other diseases including: pain, nausea and vomiting, breathlessness, constipation and bowel dysfunction, anxiety and fatigue.

In my current post I am also a member of the cancer of unknown primary team providing supportive care to patients from diagnosis of cancer and throughout treatment.

I attended medical school and completed my specialist training in Leeds. I have worked in hospice, community and hospitals settings delivering palliative care as part of multidisciplinary teams.
