Mr Omar M Durrani MBBS, FRCS Ophth is a Consultant Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre since his appointment in 2006. He received his ophthalmic training in the West Midlands and Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. Mr Durrani has worked as a clinical lecturer with the University of Birmingham (2001 to 2004).
He is a member of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society (BOPSS) and European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons (ESOPRS).
He has published over thirty papers in the medical literature. Mr Durrani lectures nationally and internationally and teaches techniques of modern oculoplastic surgery including endoscopic (keyhole) surgery.
He is a consultant eye surgeon who has completed additional advanced training in plastic and reconstructive surgery as it relates to the eyelids, eyebrows and surrounding structures. Eyelid and upper facial, lacrimal (tear drainage) & orbit (eye socket) surgery constitutes his special interest. He undertakes all aspects of upper and mid-face cosmetic surgery (blepharoplasty / lid lift, eye bag removal, brow lift, Mid-face lift) in addition to reconstructive, lacrimal and orbit surgery. Mr Durrani also has specialist training in the use of botulinum toxin and dermal fillers (Restylane, Juviderm etc). He is also an acknowledged expert in the rejuvenation of the tear trough area (dark circle under eyes, shift-workers eyes).
