I have a strong clinical background and training in vitreoretinal surgery and medical retina, as well as general ophthalmology/cataract. My cumulative experience as a Consultant Ophthalmologist, in addition to completing the UK national training programme in Ophthalmology at the top specialist eye centre Moorfields in London, has provided me with the experience necessary to manage a wide range of ophthalmic disorders.

I have special interests in cataracts, macular holes and epiretinal membranes, complex retinal detachment, diabetic eye disease and secondary lens replacement.

I have a strong reputation as an empathic and effective communicator, both with patients and colleagues. I consistently aspire to use these attributes to form a compassionate, responsive and patient-centred service, with robust patient feedback mechanisms to facilitate service evolution and improvement.

I specialise in Vitreoretinal surgery, Medical Retina, Cataract and Lens Replacement surgery as well as General Ophthalmology.

My areas of expertise include: Cataract surgery; secondary lens implants; posterior capsular thickening; trauma; urgent eye problems; age-related macular degeneration (AMD); diabetic retinopathy; retinal vein and artery occlusion; intravitreal injections; flashes and floaters; posterior vitreous detachment; retinal breaks; macular holes; epiretinal membrane; retinal detachment; vitreous haemorrhage; diabetic retinopathy; Yag laser capsulotomy; trauma management.

To date I have performed over 1,000 phacoemulsification and intra-ocular lens procedures, over 1,000 vitrectomy and tamponade procedures for retinal detachment, over 1,000 other retinal operations, including macular hole and epiretinal membrane surgery, scleral buckling procedures and diabetic vitrectomies.

I am currently the Departmental lead for the implementation of a regional project on AI-delivered pre-op an post-op patient interactions on the cataract pathway. I am the local lead for surgical simulation training.
