I am an experienced urologist with sub-specialty interests in urinary stone disease treatment (kidney/ ureteric/ bladder stone), bladder cancer and prostate cancer diagnostics. I was Clinical Director during my first year as a consultant.

I developed the stone multidisciplinary team (MDT) in Wigan, Bolton and Salford. I am a Key Opinion Leader in Endourology for Richard Wolf, Teleflex and Coloplast. I have been an invited speaker on HoLEP, and chaired a BAUS (British Association of Urological Surgeons) session on BPH/LUTS, having regularly reviewed submissions to the BAUS Annual General Meeting.

I am an active researcher, with over 20 publications on a number of topics including prostate cancer, kidney stone disease and education. I am Chief / Principal Investigator in a number of key international trials. I received my research doctorate (Doctor of Medicine, MD) from the University of Manchester after an intensive study of kidney cancer chemotherapy resistance mechanisms at the Christie Hospital.

I am an associate member of the European Association of Urologists Guidelines Panel for Prostate Cancer. These guidelines are the most sited urology guidance worldwide. I also regularly review articles for BJUI (British Journal of Urology International). I have also contributed to the Getting it Right First Time (GIRFT) urology guidance for bladder cancer. During 2021, I was running the only non-cancer urology trial in the UK.

I am an accredited Royal College of Surgeons Educational Supervisor. I have chaired numerous training sessions including the North West Annual Stone course, as well as regional training sessions. I am also involved in Antibiotic Stewardship and am an active member within my NHS trust.

I play violin, piano, drums and guitar regularly in these bands: Clutton sounds (a urology rock band) and Stringbox (a Manchester based folk band). My latest band, currently without a name, is more funk/ soul inspired.
