My specific interests are in benign and malignant head and neck disorders including thyroid, parathyroid and salivary gland pathology and in voice and swallowing disorders as well as nasal and sinus surgery. I run a neck and thyroid lump clinic and offer same day ultrasound and biopsy of these at the Spire hospital. I offer nasal and sinus surgery for benign and malignant conditions and undertake Balloon Sinuplasty at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital.
My area of sub-specialty interest is in head and neck surgery and I undertook a fellowship at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and Royal Brisbane Children's Hospital in Australia prior to my appointment as a Consultant in Cambridge. I am a member of both the head and neck cancer and thyroid cancer multi-disciplinary teams at Addenbrooke's Hospital.
I have been a Consultant ENT, Head and Neck and Thyroid Surgeon at Addenbrooke's Hospital for 13 years. My training at the three major teaching hospitals in Liverpool enables me to offer a full range of otology, rhinology with endoscopic sinus surgery and head and neck services. My time spent at Alder Hey Children's Hospital also allows me to offer a comprehensive paediatric ENT service. I also run a specialist voice clinic at Addenbrooke's Hospital along with a dedicated speech therapist.
I contribute to the British Association of Thyroid and Endocrine Surgeons surgical outcome audit which is available to the public and my Head and Neck Cancer surgical outcomes are also published nationally.
Having been Clinical Director of the ENT/Head and Neck Department for four years, I am now Clinical Director for the Business Unit which it lies within which also includes the Departments of Plastic and Reconstructive surgery, Maxillofacial Surgery and Dermatology.
In addition to my clinical work I am also an Associate Clinical Advisor for the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman.
