Gallbladder removal: what to expect at Spire South Bank Hospital

Every gallstone removal procedure carried out at Spire is done by keyhole or open surgery. Both are straightforward but the latter requires larger incisions and a longer recovery time. Either way, your consultant will talk you through their approach.

On the day, simply show up and the team will take care of things. You’ll be shown your private room and your family taken to the waiting area. Once given anaesthetic, your consultant will operate for a few hours at most. However long you need to recover, the team of nurses will take excellent care of you.
