David was born in South Africa and completed his undergraduate training at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. He continued his junior training in the UK before returning to South Africa, first to work in the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service at Johannesburg General Hospital and then to specialise in Orthopaedic Surgery in Cape Town. Here he acquired the South African Colleges Fellowship in Orthopaedic as well as a Masters of medicine in Orthopaedics.
He then moved to Ireland to Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital where he completed an Upper Limb Fellowship in Dublin with James Colville and Darragh Hynes. He followed this with a year hip and knee arthroplasty fellowship at Cappagh with John O’Byrne. David also went on to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, Canada to do a trauma fellowship with Joe Schatska.
In 2001 he was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, in the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust in Redditch. He has a successful private practice in Droitwich Spa where he specialises in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.
David has always had a passion for improving not only surgical techniques and hands on patient care but also in improving the processes involved in managing patient work flow, information accuracy and accessibility.
