I am a Specialist Hand and Wrist Surgeon. I have extensive experience of problems, including injuries, affecting the hand and wrist and all aspects of hand surgery and wrist surgery including arthroscopy.

I completed my Specialist Orthopaedic training in the Northern Regional Training Programme based in Newcastle. Following this, I spent a year undertaking an Advanced Training Post in Hand Surgery in Birmingham, one of only a small number of such posts in the United Kingdom. I was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic and Hand Surgeon in Durham in 2006, where I took the lead in training the region’s Specialist Trainees in Hand Surgery. I then moved to Worcestershire in 2009 to develop a county wide hand service.

I was the first surgeon in Worcestershire to use collagenase injection to treat Dupuytren’s contracture, and (at the time of writing) am one of only two surgeons providing this treatment in Worcestershire. I believe that treatment of a condition should be tailored to the individual with the problem and that many hand and wrist conditions can be treated without surgery.

I was born in South Wales and am married with three children.

I am a keen cyclist. Although I no longer compete, I devote much of my free time taking my children to compete at national cycling and swimming events. I also enjoy cooking and reading.

I believe that my family’s experience in competitive sports has given me great insight into the needs of active people dealing with injury and I always try to treat my patients in the way in which I would like to be treated.
