Mr John Davies qualified as a doctor from Cambridge University and St. Bartholomew's Hospital and, after junior posts at Bart's University College Hospital and St George's, underwent his orthopaedic training on the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital rotation, developing his spinal interest there. 

He moved to Worcester as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Infirmary in 1980 initially appointed as a general orthopaedic surgeon, but concentrating on spinal surgery in the last 18 years, while managing to maintain a general, foot and hand interest.

Personal profile:
I am married with three children, the oldest of whom is a GP, the youngest being a medical student at Edinburgh and the middle one a lawyer. I live in a rambling house in the country surrounded by animals, domestic and farm, on a smallholding. That, with village, local, and national church affairs seems to take up most of my spare time.
