Background Information 
Professional profile:
Dr Pitcher developed an interest in Cardiology as a medical student in London in the early 1970s and trained in Cardiology and Medicine at St George's and Guy's Hospitals and as a Senior Registrar in Plymouth and Bristol.

He was a Consultant Physician & Cardiologist in Hereford from 1985 and moved to Worcester as Consultant Cardiologist in November 2002. In Hereford Dr Pitcher established a Cardiology service, including permanent pacing in 1986 and cardiac catheterisation in 1994. He became Clinical Lead for Cardiology in Worcestershire in 2002, led the development of a pacing service in Worcestershire in 2002 and helped with the establishment of cardiac catheterisation in 2003. He was Clinical Director for Medicine from 2005 to 2008 and Clinical Director for Cardiology from 2009 to 2010.

Since 1996 Dr Pitcher has been involved with resuscitation training and has developed an interest in medical education. He has been a member of the Executive Committee and ALS Sub-committee of the Resuscitation Council (UK) since 1998 and has been Honorary Secretary since 2004.

Dr Pitcher's clinical practice is in general cardiology and he has particular interest in cardiac rhythm abnormalities and cardiac pacing. In addition he has an interest in echocardiography, valve disease and heart failure and in diagnostic cardiac catheterisation.
Personal profile:
I enjoy the company of family and friends, and when the demands of work permit I enjoy travelling, walking, skiing and cooking. My dog enjoys sharing one of these activities.
