Dr Armstrong graduated from Nottingham University before moving to Southampton to complete her postgraduate training in general medicine at Southampton General Hospital. She became a general practitioner in 2000 and joined the University Health Service as a partner in 2001, where she currently works.
She developed the diabetic service at the practice and her main interest is the treatment of both type 1 and 2 diabetes. Dr Armstrong has always been interested in the way weight loss can impact on cardiovascular and diabetic health and reduce insulin resistance. This led to her joining the Weight Management Team as a GP advisor in 2011.
She strongly believes that obesity is the 'illness of our time' and needs a proactive approach to management for long term success (and that pretty much anything can be improved with more exercise!). She is married and has three children.
