This month Spire Southampton Hospital has welcomed a new Matron/Head of Clinical Services, Sarah Needle. Sarah is "very much looking forward to working with the team and learning the Spire way."
Sarah says: "I joined the NHS 15 years ago and since qualifying as a nurse have loved every minute of my career to date. I have been very lucky to work with some fantastic people and be part of some exciting developments.
"My career to date has predominantly been within general medicine but I have gained various roles within this speciality, including working as a staff nurse in AMU, working within bed management and discharge facilitation, project management within elderly care services, matron for gastroenterology, and finally as a service manager for the emergency department and acute medical unit.
"After working for 15 years in the NHS I wanted to broaden my experience. The Matron role within Spire Southampton Hospital provided me with a perfect opportunity to continue with clinical and operational management, both of which I love.
"I have now been at the hospital for four weeks and have found the staff to be very welcoming and look forward to my future here at Southampton."
