The Cardiac Surgery Team at Spire Southampton Hospital has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Healthcare Outcomes category of the Laing and Buisson Specialist Healthcare awards.
The awards recognise ‘outstanding quality and innovation while rewarding the teams and individuals whose dedication and commitment helps make the UK independent healthcare sector truly world class’.
Finalists in the Healthcare Outcomes category have had to demonstrate evidence of improvements in outcomes through their use of high quality, coordinated programmes of patient care, education, research and advocacy.
Hospital Director Jane Whitney-Smith said, “The journey for a patient involves many different stages, and we apply the same level of care and excellence at every stage, from initial consultation and diagnosis, through to surgery and aftercare. Our dedication to patient welfare is what has brought us to the attention of the judging panel, and we work continuously to ensure we maintain this through making improvements wherever possible, whether it’s in technology, research or patient support.
“To be shortlisted for this award is a great honour for us. The people in our Cardiac Team are experts in their field, and to be able to recognise their professional abilities in this way is fantastic.”
The Cardiac Team includes surgeons, anaesthetists, the operating theatre team, cardiac ward nurses and specialist physios.
The winners will be announced in September during a gala dinner at the London Marriott Hotel.
