At Spire Southampton Hospital, Hampshire, we have a large team of experienced gastroenterologists who work closely with gastro-intestinal surgeons and consultant radiologists. A specialist hepatology service (for treatment of liver conditions) and hepatic-pancreatico-biliary surgical team are also based here. As a result we are able to offer a full range of specialist services for all conditions.
Our consultants work within specialist teams for faster diagnosis and treatment
A number of our consultants work within specialist teams which means further knowledge and expertise are available for diagnosis and treatment of our patients. This speeds up the carefully designed pathways of care to ensure you receive the best treatment possible more quickly.
We also offer specialist bariatric (weight loss) services. Please click here for further information about weight loss surgery at Spire Southampton Hospital.
Endoscopy (including gastroscopy)
Endoscopy involves examining the inside of the body with a special camera. It is usually performed under sedation and allows us to diagnose (and treat) conditions affecting the gullet stomach bowels and bileducts.
Our superbly equipped department offers gastroscopy (for the gullet and stomach), colonoscopy (for the bowel) and ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography) (for the bile duct). A full range of therapeutic endoscopy procedures is also available, for example enteral stenting to relieve blockages of the gut, biliary stenting for jaundice and endoscopic surgery (EMR) for some types of growths.
