The Rapid Assessment Breast Clinic at Spire Roding Hospital aims to minimise a patient’s apprehension and make the best possible assessment of a breast condition in the shortest possible time.
The Rapid Assessment Breast Clinic in our relaxed and friendly premises is designed to achieve a rapid and accurate diagnosis with triple assessment all in the one visit.
Discovering a breast lump can be upsetting but often they are benign.
Along with a consultation with one of our specialist breast care surgeons, the Rapid Assessment Breast Clinic will provide the earliest possible results with minimum delay. This is achieved with the coordinated support of a team of compassionate and highly experienced radiologists, pathologists and nursing staff.
The Rapid Assessment Breast Clinic in our relaxed and friendly premises is designed to achieve a rapid and accurate diagnosis with triple assessment all in the one visit. This includes expert physical examination, breast imaging (with full field digital mammography machine, 3D breast imaging and ultrasound imaging) and biopsy if required. A breast MRI facility is also available should this be requested.
Your journey through the clinic
On arrival you will check in at reception, where you will be given a folder which you will need to keep with you throughout the clinic and hand to each clinician. Please, bear in mind that you will be in the hospital for 2-3 hours.
You will then be asked to sit in the main reception where you will wait to be called to see your consultant where you will have the opportunity to discuss your symptoms and concerns.
After seeing the consultant you will then go to the radiology department, where you will undergo an ultrasound examination and a mammogram if required. If needed, a biopsy will be carried out by one of our highly skilled consultant radiologists.
You will then return to the consultant to discuss your results. If you have had a biopsy you will be asked to return 3-7 days later to receive your results.
