Dr Porcari qualified in medicine in 2000. She went on to specialise in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry which she completed in 2005. She did a year of research fellowship in the psychological effects of trauma at the Trauma Centre in Boston University under the supervision of Prof. Bessel van der Kolk and then took an NHS Consultant post in South Essex where she has worked since early 2006.
Since 2008 till present Dr. Porcari has become the Clinical Director for the NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services across South Essex, Luton and Bedfordshire alongside practising as a CAMHS Consultant in Basildon, Essex.
Dr. Porcari is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Health and Social Care at Anglia Ruskin University, Chelmsford and Visiting Professor in Psychiatry for Pavia University, Italy.
Dr. Porcari treats children, adolescent and young adults up to the age of 18 years old with all kinds of psychiatric illness, including depression, anxiety disorders such as panic and OCD, eating disorders and ADHD.
