Hydrotherapy continues to be a highly popular service with our patients and consultants. The physiotherapy team at Spire Regency Hospital in Cheshire now provides hydrotherapy treatment sessions at a local pool. These sessions take place on Mondays.

What is hydrotherapy?
Hydrotherapy is a therapeutic treatment that involves moving and exercising in water using the properties of water to help reduce pain and stress on the joints. It may be of benefit for you if you suffer from, or are recovering from:
- Back pain
- Rheumatic pain
- Arthritic pain
- Following orthopaedic surgery
- Muscle or ligament injuries
- Orthopaedic problems, eg, post-fracture injury
Patients with a variety of musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and neurological conditions are able to increase functionality and fitness in a relaxing, buoyant and supportive environment.
The water reduces loading through the joints, whilst the warmth and resistance allows the muscles to be both relaxed and challenged to restore functional movement patterns.
Patients can be directly referred for hydrotherapy and are seen in groups of no more than three, so that individual care and attention can be given to each person.
Where do we do this?
Hydrotherapy sessions take place at Bollington Leisure Centre swimming pool.
A recent patient who attended said: "The service was just fantastic, so well organised and the water was lovely and warm. The girls' enthusiasm rubbed off on everyone, and they did an excellent job. I cannot believe the difference and how much better I feel after exercising in the water, and can't wait for next week's session!"
