On October 17 our annual Breast Cancer Awareness Day took place and raised an impressive £479.
Staff were encouraged to wear an item of pink, paying £1 for the privilege. (Some staff even paid £1 penalty for forgetting to wear a pink tie!) The’ pale pink bob’ wig was once again perched on Suzanne's head, but this year new competition came from Sue, in a vibrant pink wig.
Two ladies from the catering team organised a book stall, a magnificent raffle and a Treasure Hunt in the Restaurant. The star raffle prize of a pink coffee machine was won by Deborah.
A sale of delicious cakes made by catering staff, Anthony from theatre and Sally off Reception helped boost the collection. Jane once again organised a Body Shop Competition and raised £25.
A huge ‘Thank You’ to everybody who donated books, some brilliant raffle prizes, baked cakes, and supported us on the day by spending their money. As always, when we fund raise for this charity, we remember especially our own colleagues, who have successfully overcome this disease.
