Mr Makunde has been a consultant urological surgeon since 1999 in Worchester Royal Infirmary before moving to the Isle of Wight in 2000.
He is the only consultant urological surgeon on the Island and his practice covers general urology.
This encompasses prostatic diseases, kidney stones and kidney tumours, bladder, penile and testicular problems.
However, Mr Makunde's area of special clinical interest is urinary incontinence. Since the advent of keyhole surgery, urinary incontinence can now be treated with surgical slings and tapes almost on a day care basis. Mr Makunde is involved in teaching fellow urologists and gynaecologists how to insert the slings safely.
His other specialities include erectile dysfunction (impotence) and treatment of infertility. He performs vasectomies and vasectomy reversals on a day care basis in addition to his many other urological activities.
