He also spent a year at the end of his training as a Visiting Instructor (Attending level practice) in Anesthesiology at Ann Arbor, Michigan, one of the top 10 teaching institutions in the USA.
Dr Williams has a major interest in medical education and patient safety. He has formal training in education and also has major roles in overseeing the training of the next generation of specialist anaesthetists and intensivists. He is the Lead for Simulation training at Portsmouth Hospitals, an increasingly important tool in ensuring safe training, and effective safe provision of healthcare.
Being a partner in Portsmouth Anaesthetic Group (PAG) gives enormous benefits to patients that he treats. As a group, they are able to provide 24/7 on-call cover for their patients, ensuring that Consultant Anaesthetic input is always available. They provide a comprehensive care package covering the entire perioperative period. PAG’s preoperative assessment service prepares patients prior to surgery and the diverse skill mix gives patients high quality intraoperative care and, in the event of a requirement for transfer to an acute unit, patients have excellent critical care support.
