From the outset of Dr Connor’s medical career he has been proud to serve in the Royal Navy and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. He accredited as a consultant in 2003, having trained in Wessex, London and Australia. As a consultant he has worked predominantly in Portsmouth, though he has spent a year and a half at the military hospital in Cyprus.
Similar to any anaesthetist working at a District General Hospital, his anaesthetic practice is varied and covers all specialties. However, with his military background, Dr Connor has a bias towards emergencies, plastic surgery and orthopaedics, including trauma - having had several military tours overseas. Dr Connor is a regional anaesthesia expert (placing local anaesthetic near the nerves to numb specific areas of the body) and lead for regional anaesthesia within the military.
