A team of
highly skilled consultant gastroenterologists, each with specialist expertise

Our Consultant Gastroenterologists diagnose and treat a wide range of gastrointestinal disorders through a variety of methods. Gastroenterologists aim to treat problems associated with the entire gastrointestinal system varying from acid reflux to irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
The gastroenterologists normally use an endoscope to diagnose problems. This involves examining the inside of the body with a special camera, usually under sedation, in order to diagnose (and treat) conditions affecting the gastrointestinal system.
Our consultants can perform a gastroscopy to examine the gullet and stomach, a colonoscopy to examine the bowel or an ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography) to examine the bile duct.
Once symptons have been diagnosed our Gastroenterology Consultants can prescribe a suitable treatment based on their findings. If symptons need a surgical solution however they may then refer the patient on to an Upper Gastrointestinal Consultant or Colorectal Consultant to surgically treat the problem.
