At Perform our carefully selected multidisciplinary teams consist of leading consultant sport and exercise medicine physicians (SEMs), performance physiotherapists and consultant surgeons. Some Perform locations also have sport and exercise physiologists, podiatrists, performance dieticians and psychologists.
Our teams work to develop a bespoke programme that is right for you.
Each speciality can play an important role in helping you achieve your goals.
Performance physiotherapists
Physiotherapists use various ‘hands-on’ techniques to diagnose and treat medical disorders and injuries. All of the physiotherapists within Perform are senior practitioners with many years of experience treating musculoskeletal disorders. In many cases the Perform physiotherapists will manage your journey from start to finish, but if an expert opinion or further tests and medical treatments are required they will refer you to an SEM physician or consultant.
Consultant sports and exercise medicine physicians (SEMs)
With approximately 40 state-registered SEM physicians in the UK, most of whom work solely with elite sports teams, it is rare to find them practicing in hospital clinics. Perform gives you access to this select group of specialists who manage medical conditions and musculoskeletal injuries in people who participate in exercise or sport. They support people with chronic medical problems and are experts in exercise testing and prescription. Specialist consultant SEM physicians are available to treat the full range of musculoskeletal disorders, like back pain, and sports injuries. They also provide expert exercise advice for treatment of medical conditions, rehabilitation from injury, and exercise advice for those who want to push their bodies to the limit.
Consultant surgeons
Perform is part of Spire Healthcare, one of the UKs leading private hospital groups. Hundreds of expert consultant surgeons practice within Spire hospitals, making integration with surgical services seamless and automatic. If you attend a Perform centre for treatment, and require surgery, you will usually be able to choose to have your operation and post-operative rehabilitation at the same site.
