How can I access Spire?

Before seeing my GP I would like advice on seeing a specialist privately

I have medical insurance: Simply call the customer services adviser at your local Spire hospital. They will discuss your needs and how to make use of your medical insurance at Spire.
I do not have insurance: Simply call the customer services adviser at your local Spire hospital. They will discuss your needs and let you know whether a GP referral is required in order to see one of our specialists.

I know the type or name of the specialist I want to see

I have medical insurance: Call your local Spire hospital to find out about consultant appointment availability. You will need to contact your insurer to confirm whether you are covered for your consultation and whether you will need a GP referral. If so, visit your GP and ask to be referred to a specialist at Spire.
I do not have insurance: Call us to get a guide price and to book an appointment with the doctor of your choice - and to find out if you’ll need a GP referral.

I need a medical opinion on the most appropriate specialist to see for my symptoms.

I have medical insurance: Your local Spire hospital may be able to offer you a private GP appointment to discuss your symptoms. Call their customer services adviser for more information. Alternatively you can visit your usual GP and ask for their referral advice advice and then call us to make an appointment. Your GP may give you a referral letter or may send it direct to the Spire hospital

I have medical insurance: In most cases your insurer will require you to have a GP referral before you can see a specialist privately. However your local Spire hospital may be able to offer you a private GP appointment to discuss your symptoms. Call the customer services adviser at your local Spire hospital for more information.
I do not have insurance: Your local Spire hospital may be able to offer you a private GP appointment to discuss your symptoms, or may be able to offer you an appointment with the consultant of your choice without a referral. Call their customer services adviser for more information.

I have been to see my GP and received a referral to a specialist, and I would like to do this privately.

I have medical insurance: Call your local Spire hospital to book an appointment with the same consultant or another specialist with similar expertise. You should contact your insurer to confirm whether you are covered for the consultation and any subsequent treatment.  If your GP referral letter is addressed to a different consultant, you may need to request an updated letter.
I do not have insurance: Call us to book an appointment with one of our consultants. If your GP referral letter is addressed to a different consultant, you may need to request an updated letter.

I have already seen a specialist on the NHS but would like to continue my treatment privately.

You may need a new referral or you may simply be able to transfer under the same consultant. You should also confirm with your insurer that you are covered for the treatment.

I have medical insurance: Call your local Spire hospital to book an appointment with one of our consultants. To claim on your insurance, you may need a referral letter from the health practitioner you saw, or from your GP.
I do not have insurance: Call us to book an appointment with one of our consultants. We can also confirm whether you will need a referral letter from the health practitioner you saw.
