At Spire Parkway Hospital, Solihull, our specialist physiotherapist, Karen Wilkinson, provides rehabilitation for women in the Birmingham and West Midlands area who have undergone surgery for the treatment of breast cancer or who have had reconstructive surgery.
Common concerns following surgery can include discomfort, swelling and tightness of the breast. You may be unsure as to how active you can be and at what stage it is safe to return to normal activities or exercise.
Karen can provide a thorough assessment and treatment programme tailored to your individual needs.
The initial hour long assessment will include an examination, discussion and treatment.
Your treatment will consist of soft tissue massage and Pilates based exercises. A home exercise programme may be suggested and exercise booklets provided.
Further sessions are usually for 30 minutes but are very much tailored to your needs.
Karen works closely with the Consultant Cosmetic Surgeons and Breast Care Nurse Specialists at Spire Parkway Hospital, enabling patients to achieve not only full mobility and function but with an excellent cosmetic finish following surgery.
