There are some ailments in life you just learn to live with, the dodgy knee, a twinge in the back, and then there are others that you keep to yourself, either through embarrassment or, “It’s too small a problem to bother the doctor with, I’m not ill!” mentality. However, having the inability to sneeze in public, or lead the same active life I had before the children, had really impacted on my life. I did not fully realise how much it had impacted until after I had the TVT (tension free vaginal tape) procedure.
My operation was performed by Mr Matharu at Spire Parkway Hospital. I had received physio therapy for 6 months prior to the operation, (which was actually very useful), and Mr Matharu suggested that I was a good candidate for the TVT procedure. I was given all the information at Parkway and felt completely happy before the operation.
During the hours following the operation I was not in any pain due to the pain relief given, in fact, I luckily did not suffer with much pain at all in the following days.
7 weeks on, I am just delighted and amazed! I have been for a run in light grey bottoms (having been not able to run successfully or wear light grey bottoms since the birth of my first child nearly 8 years ago).
I am back to the gym, and if I am late to pick up the children from school, I am not only able to sprint down the road to get there in time, I can do it confidently! I no longer tailor my movements to compensate for what might happen at work, (I have an active job), and I look forward to a fun and active summer with my children this year.
All in all the whole experience has been very positive and the staff at Spire Parkway always efficient and courteous. I felt reassured by Mr Matharu’s professionalism and confidence and even though he has carried out this procedure on 1000’s of patients I was made to feel that care and attention was taken over every detail in my particular case, as I am sure it is in all his cases.
A big thank you to everyone at Spire Parkway Hospital.
