After qualification, I trained in most of the main University Hospital in the West Midlands and developed a keen interest in laparoscopic surgery; such that the vast majority of my surgical work is now performed with keyhole surgery.
I spent further time gaining valuable specialist training with some of the leading world experts and pioneering surgeons in the fields of Upper GI cancer, anti-reflux and weight loss surgery in centres of excellence in UK, Europe, Tokyo, and Australia.
I see research and education as an integral part of my clinical work. A collaborative study between University College London and University of Birmingham culminated in a higher degree on the subject of oesophageal cancer. I have published several articles, presented nationally and internationally on topics including upper GI cancer, anti-reflux and weight loss surgery. I am the Educational Lead at my Trust and hold University and Postgraduate posts relevant to the training of medical students and future surgeons.
