I graduated in medicine in 1988 and completed my Master’s degree in orthopaedics in 1992. I joined Nottingham/Mid Trent Higher Surgical Training Programme and later went to Cambridge/East Anglia orthopaedic training programme to complete training in orthopaedics where I was awarded a certificate of completion of surgical training in orthopaedic and trauma surgery.

As a part of my training, I have done a knee and shoulder fellowship. During my knee fellowship, I was trained for primary and revision knee replacement, ACL/PCL ligament reconstruction, meniscus repair and knee arthroscopies. During my shoulder fellowship, I learnt to deal with rotator cuff repairs, arthroscopic shoulder surgery, shoulder joint replacement surgery and stabilisation surgeries.

I also trained at the Nottingham shoulder and elbow unit and at Norwich upper limb and trauma unit. My NHS practice includes dealing with sports injuries, knee and shoulder injuries.

I work for the Royal College of Surgeons, University of Birmingham and NHS England. I am involved in teaching and training junior doctors. I work as a Senior Lecturer for the University of Birmingham.
