Mr Matthew Trotter is a Consultant Ear Nose and Throat Surgeon with a substantive appointment at Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust covering the three hospital sites at Heartlands, Solihull, and Good Hope. 

He graduated from Birmingham University Medical School in 1995 and undertook his surgical training in the West Midlands. Mr Trotter was awarded the Thomas Wickham Jones travelling fellowship to spend 12 months working at the Royal Eye and Ear Hospital and Bionic Ear Institute in Melbourne Australia during 2007/2008. During this period he developed a subspecialist interest in ear and hearing problems. Mr Trotter is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and completed a postgraduate Masters degree at Warwick University in 2007.

Mr Trotter has undergone comprehensive training in the medical and surgical management of adult and children's ear, nose (allergies, blockage and sinus conditions) and throat conditions including problems with voice, snoring and swallowing.

In addition, he is able to offer a specialist service in otology (ear, hearing and balance problems) in both adults and children. He undertakes all the major hearing restoration surgery including stapedectomy (for otosclerosis), ossiculoplasty, cholesteatoma surgery and bone anchored hearing aids.

Personal profile:
Mr Matthew Trotter is married with two children. Outside the hospital he enjoys entertaining and spending time with his family and friends. Mr Trotter plays golf and enjoys cricket, rugby and skiing.
