Dr Honeybourne has very extensive experience having been a consultant physician in Birmingham since 1985. He worked at City Hospital, Dudley Road until 1998 then moved across the city to Heartlands Hospital. At Heartlands he has helped to develop the West Midlands Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre. This included many charity events which he helped to organise and which raised £1.75 million.
He has developed a strong NHS practice working at Heartlands, Good Hope Hospital and Birmingham Chest Clinic. He was, until recently, Clinical Director for respiratory medicine over a 6 year period and managed major changes and improvements in the service including many at Solihull Hospital. He has a strong interest in medical education and continues that interest at the Royal College of Physicians in London.
Dr Honeybourne has had a national profile in respiratory medicine holding several posts and chairing committees for the British Thoracic Society. He also has an active interest in medico-legal work.
