Problems with your bowel can be embarrassing and can create anxiety. The physiotherapy department at Spire Parkway Hospital can offer help with conditions such as faecal incontinence/soiling, faecal urgency, pelvic floor/anal sphincter weakness and provide advice on constipation.
Our specialist physiotherapist, Karen Sanders, specialises in women’s and men’s health and has worked at Parkway Hospital since 1999.
Treatment would involve an initial assessment with Karen, who will determine the right type of treatment for your condition.
This may include pelvic floor exercises, biofeedback (a technique that gives information about functions that are usually regulated automatically by the body, such as your muscle contractions), and electrical stimulation, bowel suppressant techniques and tips on how to manage constipation.
