After graduating at the University of East Anglia in 2004 Emma completed a four year rotation in the NHS covering areas such as respiratory, neurology, paediatrics, medicine for the elderly, domiciliary and outpatients. She has a special interest in musculoskeletal and in 2008 obtained a post at Spire Norwich Hospital as a knee specialist; working mainly in outpatients whilst also spending some time with the in-patient team. Emma has recently become out-patient team leader of the Spire Norwich Hospital outpatient physiotherapy team. She has her own caseload of musculoskeletal patients with the majority being lower limb post operative rehabilitation and sporting injuries. She liaises with consultants on complex cases and keeps them informed of changes within the outpatient physiotherapy department.
Since qualifying Emma has also worked with an amateur rugby team which has allowed her to develop skills specific to the sporting arena from acute injury to returning back to full fitness it has also given her an insight into the psychology of sports, which can be a particularly important element to take into account when rehabilitating each individual.
Since training as a physiotherapist Emma has a particular interest in musculoskeletal paediatrics and she has undertaken many APCP approved training courses. She has experience in working at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital Paediatrics Department and frequently liaises with her NHS colleagues on complex cases and to discuss any relevant research.
Emma was originally brought up in rural Leicestershire and only moved to Norwich in 2001 to go to University. Emma has always been interested in sports, swimming competitively until the age of 19 and playing ladies rugby union since then. She also enjoys running and has completed a half marathon for a Leicester children's charity.
