Dr Stephen Lewis completed his Masters in Sports Medicine in 2004 after originally training as an Orthopaedic Surgeon. He has worked in elite sport since 2002 and worked for 11 years in the Premier League with Fulham FC before joining Brighton and Hove Albion FC in 2014 as their lead Sports Physician. He has also been Chief Medical Officer at Sussex CCC since season 2014-15. Previous posts include seven years in international rugby as Head of Medicine for the England Women’s rugby team as well as posts covering Masters Tennis, clinics at the English Institute of Sport, Soccer Aid, and several years working in Rehabilitation Medicine for the Armed Forces.
He has expertise with both acute and chronic musculoskeletal problems, recurrent injuries and patients with conditions proving difficult to diagnose.
He advises patients on recovery and injury prevention strategies, overtraining and fatigue issues.
