Dr Austin is a consultant gastroenterologist and hepatologist at Brighton and Sussex University Hospital Trust, having taken up his post in 2010.
He completed his specialist training mainly at Kings College Hospital and St Thomas' Hospital, London. He worked at the Institute for liver studies at Kings College Hospital for 6 years, completing research in survival characteristics of patients with end stage liver disease.
He has a keen interest in endoscopy and performs all aspects of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, with JAG accreditation in upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy. He also performs ERCP and EUS, and is currently the clinical lead of the endoscopy department at Brighton and Sussex University Hospital Trust.
He is married with 2 daughters and a baby son and enjoys gardening, tending his allotment, cycling, skiing and spending time with his family.
