Care Framework

The Montefiore Hospital aims to provide exemplary care to its patients and be the best independent provider of healthcare in the area. This includes offering specialist services, to be the first choice for local patients and to attract business from much further afield.

To achieve this the hospital has developed a framework for ensuring high quality, appropriate, safe and effective care delivery that meets all regulatory and other requirements.

We have been committed to embedding an effective governance framework which includes the application of risk management processes to all clinical and non-clinical aspects of the service. The governance framework ensures a systematic and focused approach to governance and managing risk, which is coordinated, fully integrated into management systems and consistent throughout all parts of the business.

However, as good governance is more than just a framework, and also about a culture and attitude, we also seek to ensure that every member of staff has a real sense of ownership and commitment. This requires adopting a pro-active approach to the delivery of high quality, appropriate, safe and effective services to our patients. This is best achieved in an environment of openness and honesty where mistakes are identified quickly and dealt with in a positive and responsive manner.

Our governance framework is aligned to Spire Healthcare’s quality goals. We run a very successful hospital induction day, which provides a warm welcome to new starters, the opportunity to engage with the Senior Management Team, the chance to learn about the journey of the hospital to date and the vision for the future.

Patient Satisfaction

Our culture is to listen to, and work with, the users of our service in order to create a service that is responsive in addition to safe and effective.

We actively participate in an ongoing customer survey. In 2013 the 5 most highly scored aspects of service delivery were:

  • Reception staff (100%)
  • Confidence and trust in consultant (99%)
  • Promptness of admission (98%)
  • Overall level of care and attention(97%)
  • Overall feeling of reassurance and safety (97%)

The survey also yields very many positive patient comments about their experience, especially in relation to: Level of care and attention received from staff in all areas of the hospital, cleanliness, pleasant surroundings and quality of facilities. Patients often comment that they are recognized as an individual, treated with dignity and respect, feel listened to and cared for and some have commented that “it’s like coming home”!
