David Charles Blackie, a plumber aged 72, from Outwood underwent a total right knee replacement under the care of Mr Aaron Ng, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Spire Methley Park Hospital. Mr Blackie first became aware of his symptoms in 2013 and they gradually worsened over time. He says, “I visited my GP who said the best option was to have a total knee replacement. I did some research and spoke to family and friends who recommended Mr Ng and Spire Methley Park Hospital.”
David Charles Blackie, 72, from Outwood, had a total right knee replacement in 2015 under the care of Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Mr Aaron Ng.
David then came and had a consultation with Mr Ng followed by a series of scans. My Ng confirmed what Mr Blackie’s GP had said that he would need a total knee replacement on his right knee. David says, “I was fully informed about what was going to happen during and after my surgery. The staff were very good and I felt relieved after the operation that I could now begin a full recovery.”
Mr Blackie’s recovery went well and he returned home soon after the operation. He then returned to the hospital to have regular physiotherapy sessions as part of his recovery and also for a follow up appointment with Mr Ng who said that his recovery was good and his knee was healing well.
David’s advice to anyone considering a knee replacement is, “Have the procedure as soon as you can. The recovery does take time but it is worth it. I now have no pain from my right knee.”
