Cath Holmes a theatre worker at Methley Park Hospital has raised a staggering £6’000 for cancer charity, The Yorkshire Haven in Leeds which supports people with breast cancer.
Cath who was diagnosed with cancer for a second time in 2011 described her personal experience at the The Yorkshire Haven as offering both practical and psychological support throughout a devastating time in her life and was responsible for ‘’giving her strength and a positive attitude to deal with cancer’’.
Cath ,who lives in Rothwell, Leeds, has since organised and participated in several fundraising activities to raise money for ‘The Yorkshire Haven’ including a bikini top walk where she invited friends and colleagues to walk around Rothwell town centre wearing bikini tops of all colours and styles and this was generously supported by the Rothwell community and many local businesses. Ploughing ahead with her fundraising ideas resourceful Cath went on to produce a topless calendar with the support of Methley Park hospital colleagues, which amazingly she organised in her own back garden! Methley Park Hospital supported Caths fundraising by hosting a free Spanish themed staff celebratory ‘Calendar Girls ‘lunch and raffle. Not surprisingly Cath has also been awarded an inspiring people award by Methley Park staff members.
Barely pausing for breath Cath is now planning a fundraising race and auction night on the 27th July, all proceeds will go towards The Yorkshire Haven. Visit http://www.thehaven.org.ukto find out more about The Yorkshire Haven
