Prof Lesley Rhodes obtained her medical degree in London and her clinical training in dermatology in Liverpool. Lesley practises general dermatology and set up specialist photodermatology services in 1995 for (i) the investigation, diagnosis and treatment of patients with a wide range of photosensitivity disorders, i.e. skin reactions to sunlight, and (ii) treatment of superficial skin cancers with photodynamic therapy (PDT, an effective, non-surgical, light therapy). Her research programme has trialled and developed new treatments for photosensitivity and best protocols for the practice of PDT. Lesley is frequently invited to speak nationally and internationally on her specialist clinical practice, including new approaches to improve patients’ symptoms.
