Dr Leon Creaney

I am a physician who specialises in sport and exercise medicine (SEM) with a subspecialty interest in musculoskeletal medicine. I qualified from the University of Sheffield in 2001 and became a consultant on the GMC specialist register in 2009. I have held NHS consultant posts in Sheffield, Manchester, Warrington and University Hospital Birmingham.

I have a particular interest in lower back pain, sports injuries and performance medicine. For the last 10 years I have been treating 2,000 private patients per year with musculoskeletal pain and injuries from head to toe (neck, shoulder, back, hip and groin, thigh, knee, leg, foot and ankle).

Since qualifying as a consultant 12 years ago, I have worked in elite sport for British Athletics as a team doctor every year and have also developed an interest in football medicine, having run a football medicine clinic at Spire Manchester and St George’s Park where I took the role of clinical governance lead. I have previously worked for Shrewsbury Town FC and am currently the team doctor for LFC Women.
