This is one of the most common procedures carried out and I have personally done over 10, 000 over the last twenty years. I also carry out this procedure under a local anaesthetic whereby the patient can watch on the monitor as we are performing the procedure.
The vast majority of patient who have had the procedure done in this way have suffered from little discomfort and have in fact indicated that they had very little pain. They have also then understood a lot more about what is happening within their knee. These are day case procedures and recovery is often very swift.
