Hip replacement

The hip replacement is one of the more successful joints that have been replaced.

This procedure has the longest history in terms of joint replacement surgery in that this was the first one that was started and technology has allowed us to do this with smaller incisions and there are many prosthesis available.  At present the ceramic on ceramic hip replacement is thought to give us the longest survival rate and patients can expect the survival rate of these implants to be between 15 and 20 years if not longer depending on the demand.

Both cemented and uncemented prosthesis are used today.
