Mr Shokrollahi is a Consultant Burns and Plastic Surgeon in Liverpool, based at the Mersey Burns Unit, having graduated from Bristol University with both a Bachelor of Science degree with first class honours in Cellular and Molecular Pathology and a degree in Medicine. He went on to graduate with both a Master of Science degree in Clinical Engineering and also a Master of Law degree having developed a specific interest in consent for medical treatment and the ethics and law related to patient-centred care and consent. His basic training was undertaken in Bristol and the Membership Diploma (MRCS) of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He undertook parts of his training in aspects of Plastic Surgery in a number of units including Oxford, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Chester, Swansea, Canniesburn in Glasgow and has been awarded fellowships in Nottingham, and Ottawa in Canada, in addition to a national oncological and reconstructive laser fellowship that he set up and now co-directs. He became a Hunterian Professor of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2007 and gained his specialist fellowship diploma in plastic surgery FRCS (Plast) in 2009. He has won prizes from the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons, Bristol University and the Pathological Society of Great Britain. He has a strong academic and research interest having published over sixty peer reviewed articles in the scientific literature, and he is Associate Editor of the International Journal Annals of Plastic Surgery. He has written or is writing a number of textbooks including the Oxford Handbook of Burns, The International Flap Manual of Reconstructive Surgery, and Multiple Choice Questions in Plastic Surgery.
