Consultant Ophthalmologist, St Paul’s Eye Unit, Royal Liverpool University Hospital
Royal College of Ophthalmologists (London)
I aim to create the best possible experience for all patients – both in the clinical outcome but also for their journey through the medical system. My main specialty is adult strabismus (squint), a condition which is notoriously overlooked as the public generally think “there is nothing you can do for my eye position”. My main research interest has been to document both the effects of squint on patients’ lives and the huge benefit gained from restoring the normal appearance of the eyes. My Ophthalmology training has been in the Mersey region since 2002, so I know the area and people well. When I decided to sub-specialise in strabismus surgery I did a years fellowship in Liverpool and spent time in Moorfields hospital, London and the Mayo clinic in the USA.
Main services available:
-Adult squint surgery: correcting the position of the eyes to alleviate any double vision and to restore the normal appearance of the eyes.
- Cataract surgery: high volume, high quality cataract surgery.
- General ophthalmology: any general problem with the eyes including medical glaucoma management, dry eye and lid cysts.
I live in Cheshire with my family. My main interests outside of ophthalmology are long distance running and astronomy for which I am currently studying for a BSc.
