I am a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon based at St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. I graduated from Dundee University Medical School in 2000 and specialist training in plastic Surgery was completed at the Northern Deanery, Newcastle. I have undertaken a Microsurgical Fellowship at Guy's and St Thomas’ Hospital London, an Oncoplastic Fellowship, followed by travelling Fellowships to world renowned units including Barcelona, Helsinki, Dusseldorf and Singapore. I completed an Aesthetic Fellowship at the Wellington Hospital in London, prior to commencing my Consultant post.

My private practice repertoire includes all aspects of breast surgery (augmentation, reduction, uplift, male breast surgery and reconstruction), body contouring such as abdominoplasty, body lift (post weight-loss surgery) and I also undertake facial aesthetic surgery such as facelifts and blepharoplasty operations as well as non-invasive procedures. My NHS practice is concentrated around micro-surgical breast reconstruction and breast corrective surgery.

I have been involved in raising awareness of breast reconstruction and taken part in organising charity events at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital and St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals in celebration of Breast Reconstruction Day. I have been involved in the production of educational television programmes associated with Persian BBC with a large viewership, in particular in the Middle East.

As well as technical attention to detail and striving for an ideal outcome, I place great emphasis on making the patients feel comfortable and at ease throughout the process as well as ensuring they have full understanding of all stages of the treatment offered.

One area I specialise in is Labiaplasty. The demand for female genital rejuvenation has continued to increase significantly world wide. In some female patients, enlargement of the labia minora on either one or both sides is a source of cosmetic, functional and psychological concerns. Patients can experience irritation, discomfort, rubbing sensation, self consciousness and embarrassment in sexual circumstances and in certain clothing. Labiaplasty, involves trimming and reduction of the labia minora to address these issues. The procedure can be performed either as a local or general anaesthetic case with a short postoperative recovery time. The amount of excision is carried out following careful measurement and discussion between surgeon and patient prior to surgery. If performed by an expert, complications have been shown to be very low. This is an intimate area for patients to discuss and it is hence important to feel at ease with your surgeon. As a female plastic surgeon it is possible to make patients feel relaxed during consultation and also perform an aesthetically pleasing procedure with low complications and high satisfaction rate.
