The Hybrid solution for SSD is an innovation for Spire Liverpool Hospital and the new facility was designed, built and furnished over a period of approximately 20 weeks in total, with minimal disturbance to business as usual. The SSD will provide a full decontamination service of reusable medical instrumentation to Spire Liverpool Theatres under the Spire umbrella using two sites – Decontamination, assembly and packing will be controlled on site at Spire Liverpool and Sterilisation currently takes place at Spire Manchester Hospital.
The hybrid solution provides an alternative to outsourcing and provides reassurance to our Consultants, Theatre Manager and the Theatre team. Our instruments will continue to be handled and cared for to the highest standard, in a department that strives to maintain high levels of professional management, expertise and service. The new department demonstrates compliance to the regulatory requirements of the Medical Device Directive 2007/47/EC and will shortly be completing the external SGS audit to achieve accreditation to this standard.
