Gallbladder removal: what to expect at Spire Little Aston Hospital

You’ll start the process with a consultation and some examinations. This will determine the best course of action for your procedure, and whether keyhole surgery can be used or if you need open surgery. The latter simply requires larger incisions and a few days more in hospital afterwards.

On the day, the Spire team will be on hand to support you before, during and after your procedure. You’ll be escorted from your private room to theatre, and given general anaesthetic. The operation should take a few hours at most, after which you’ll have whatever time and space you need to recuperate.
