Dr Muschaweck is the surgical chief and founder of the 'Hernia Center, Munich', the largest European Centre that exclusively specialises in hernias of the abdominal wall and groin region. Since 1989 Dr Muschaweck has worked solely on developing techniques in hernia surgery. She took up residence in her own medical practice as a surgical specialist in 1993 and since then has worked exclusively in the field of hernia surgery.
She has developed two surgical methods over 10 years:which have revolutionised patient care:
1) the 'Minimal Repair' specifically developed for sportsman's groin in athletes
2) the 'Munich Repair' treating umbillical hernias
Dr Muschaweck successfully treats many top athletes from all over the world, enabling them to start training again just a few days after sugery. In her Hernia Centre in Munich more than 27,000 patients have successfully been operated on, equating to 1,400 operations per year.
In September 2010 she gained full registration at the GMC, UK as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration.
Dr Muschaweck is part of the multidisciplinary team for the specialist Hip and Groin Service at Perform Physiotherapy located at Spire Little Aston Hospital.
