A team of 16 from Spire Little Aston Hospital will be navigating the Great Midlands Fun Run this weekend (31st May and 1 June) in aid of local charity, Breast Friends. The team from Spire Little Aston Hospital will be swapping suits and uniforms for trainers and sportswear as they push a modified hospital bed around the 8.5 mile course.
Silvie Adams, Hospital Director at Spire Little Aston Hospital, said: “The team from Spire Little Aston Hospital added the extra challenge of pushing the bed around the course, requiring the bed wheels to be modified slightly to cope with the terrain.
“With many of the team taking part for the first time, it will be interesting to see if anyone negotiates to sit on the bed rather than push the bed!”
Jackie Benzecry from Breast Friends said: "We have a great relationship with Spire Little Aston Hospital and are grateful of their continued fundraising support. Breast Friends is a self-help group helping those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and undergone surgery. Support from organisations such as Spire Little Aston Hospital, is crucial in allowing us to continue to provide this valuable service.”
Good luck to the Spire Little Aston Hospital Team who are taking part!
